Greater Noida West Resident Held After Lift Altercation With Security Guard

Indiadailyupdate.com – A parking disagreement at a high-rise housing society in Greater Noida West escalated into a physical confrontation inside a lift, leading to the arrest of a resident in his 30s. The dispute involved a security guard in his 40s and occurred on Tuesday night at a residential society in Sector 1, police said.

The matter is being investigated by Bisrakh police, where a non-cognizable report for assault under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered on Wednesday following the guard’s complaint.

Argument Began Over Parking Space

The resident had allegedly left his car in an area marked for no parking near his tower within the society complex. The security guard objected and asked him to shift the vehicle to an authorised parking location.

“As the resident parked his car in a no-parking zone near his high-rise tower inside the society, the security guard protested and asked him to park the vehicle at the designated place,” said Ranjeet Singh, station house officer, Bisrakh police station.

Parking rules are a routine part of life in large residential developments, where common driveways, tower entrances and emergency-access areas must remain clear. Security personnel are often responsible for directing residents and visitors toward designated spaces, making disagreements over vehicle placement particularly sensitive when rules are challenged.

Police said the resident allegedly declined to move the car and entered a lift to go to his flat. The guard followed him, continuing to request that the vehicle be relocated. The confrontation intensified as the guard prepared to contact the society management over the parking issue.

Video Captures Physical Confrontation

A video of the incident shows the resident slapping the guard while the guard appears to be attempting to make a phone call from inside the lift. The resident is seen striking him more than once as the guard protests.

A woman visible in the footage tried to stop the quarrel. Police identified her as the suspect’s wife. During the confrontation, the guard was also seen hitting the resident.

The clip highlights how quickly a disagreement in a confined shared space can turn into a serious altercation. Lifts and building corridors are common areas used by residents, staff and visitors, and disputes in such spaces can draw in bystanders or create concern among other members of a housing community.

Other security employees and representatives of the society management later stepped in to calm the situation and bring the immediate dispute under control.

Complaint Filed at Bisrakh Police Station

Following the guard’s complaint, Bisrakh police registered an NCR for assault under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Wednesday. Officials said the resident was subsequently arrested, while the inquiry into the incident remains ongoing.

The case underscores the importance of using society-management channels when disagreements arise over common facilities, parking or building rules. Residential security guards are tasked with implementing directions issued by housing associations and management teams, while residents can raise objections through established internal procedures rather than allowing an argument to become physical.

Police have not indicated any final finding on the full sequence of events beyond the complaint and material currently under review. The investigation will examine the confrontation, the alleged parking violation and the roles of those involved in the lift incident.

For residents of high-rise communities, the episode is a reminder that parking restrictions are intended to manage limited shared space and keep access routes usable. A disagreement over a vehicle’s placement can be addressed through the society office, security supervisor or management committee, helping prevent a routine issue from developing into a confrontation with legal consequences.
