Indiadailyupdate.com – WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair was taken to a hospital on Friday after suffering a fall outside a restaurant in Tampa, Florida, just hours after revealing that a blood clot in his leg had forced him to cancel an upcoming convention appearance.

The 77-year-old wrestling icon had been at Wagamama on Friday morning. After getting up from the bar, he reportedly left his drink and phone behind before walking across the street, where he fell. The incident left Flair with cuts around his head and eye, and significant bleeding from the eye was reported. There were also concerns that he may have sustained a concussion.

It was not immediately clear how the fall could affect a medical procedure Flair had already planned for the blood clot in his leg.

Travel plans halted by health concerns

Earlier in the day, Flair informed fans that he would no longer be attending Washington State Horror Con in Seattle. His doctors had limited his travel to journeys of three to four hours, making the trip to the Pacific Northwest impossible at this time.

In a message shared on X, Flair apologized to his agent Steve Solomon, the event organizers, Big Event NY and supporters who had expected to see him at the convention. He said putting his recovery first had become necessary.

“Unfortunately, I Am Dealing With A Blood Clot In My Leg, And My Doctors Have Limited My Travel To 3–4 Hours. Seattle Falls Outside That Range, And As Disappointed As I Am, I Have To Put My Health And Recovery First.”

Blood clots require careful medical attention because they can create serious complications if they move through the body. Flair stressed that he was following his doctors’ advice and asked fans to understand the decision to step away from the scheduled appearance.

“Blood Clots Are Extremely Serious And Can Be Life-Threatening. We Have Seen This Recently With Jalen Hurts And The Complications Involving Blood Clots In His Lungs. It Is A Reminder That This Is Not Something To Take Lightly, And I Must Follow Medical Advice.”

Procedure had been planned

Flair said doctors had scheduled a procedure to strip the affected vein, which they expected could allow him to be cleared for longer travel afterward. The hospitalization following Friday’s fall has added fresh uncertainty to that timetable.

“I’m Scheduled To Have A Procedure To Strip The Affected Vein, Which My Doctors Expect Will Allow Me To Be Cleared For More Travel Afterward. Please Know This Decision Was Not Made Lightly. I Am Truly Sorry For The Inconvenience And Disappointment, And I Am Incredibly Grateful For Your Patience, Understanding, And Continued Support.”

He concluded his message by looking ahead to returning to public events once he has recovered.

Another missed appearance

The Seattle cancellation was not the first recent event affected by Flair’s blood clot diagnosis. He also missed the Cauliflower Alley Club reunion in August, where he had been scheduled to receive the Iron Mike Mazurki Award. Flair accepted that honor remotely instead.

For decades, Flair has remained one of professional wrestling’s most recognizable personalities. Known to generations of fans as “The Nature Boy,” he built a career that included major championship reigns and a lasting presence in wrestling culture long after his most active years in the ring.
