“All relevant parties should adhere to the direction of a political solution and promote a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire. We must attach importance to addressing the root causes of the problems, rebuilding mutual trust among regional countries, and constructing a new security architecture.”
The proposals emphasised that a ceasefire alone would not resolve the region’s underlying tensions. Xi argued that a sustainable settlement would require political engagement, restored confidence between regional states and security arrangements that address longer-term concerns.
Palestinian issue at the centre
Xi described the Palestinian question as central to the broader Middle East crisis. He said a fundamental resolution depends on implementing the two-state solution and enabling Israel and Palestine to live alongside one another peacefully.
The two-state framework remains a key diplomatic reference point in international discussions over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Xi’s emphasis on it underlined China’s view that regional stability cannot be separated from a political settlement of the Palestinian issue.
China, he said, is prepared to work with fellow BRICS members in pursuit of peace and tranquillity in the Middle East. The statement positioned the grouping as a potential forum for coordination among major emerging economies on security questions as well as development priorities.

AI is increasingly relevant not only to scientific research and business activity, but also to manufacturing, logistics and the competitiveness of national economies. Reforming global economic governance
In addition to security and technology, Xi called for changes in global governance. He said BRICS countries should support a multilateral trading system centred on the World Trade Organization, back reform of the WTO and oppose the misuse of tariffs.
“They should support the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core, promote WTO reform, oppose the abuse of tariffs, and resist all forms of protectionism,” Xi said.
The message connected trade policy with the wider concerns raised during his speech. For Xi, preserving predictable international rules and resisting protectionism are part of the same effort to create a more balanced global order.
His address presented BRICS as a group with responsibilities extending beyond its members’ national interests.
