He directed that local workers, including those without formal training, be given priority in filling entry-level positions at the plant. The CM also drew a sharp contrast with the preceding 34-year Left Front era, which he described as an age of trade-union politics and coercive land acquisition that deterred private capital from entering the state.
"In the last 15 years there has been no industry. Only distribution of dole and high appeasement politics. We want to come out of this too. We want industrial growth, employment and ancillary industries," Adhikari declared, adding that West Bengal must pull ahead of neighbouring states through sustained infrastructure development.
