Dahiya Burger Video: CJP Spokesperson Addresses Absence from Protest
Indiadailyupdate.com – A video showing Vijeta Dahiya, the spokesperson for the Cockroach Janata Party, enjoying a burger in Delhi during the party’s protest sparked widespread debate. Though the footage was not officially verified, it seemed to capture Dahiya at a popular fast-food outlet while the demonstration, which turned violent in New Delhi, was ongoing. Delhi Police reported that 118 officers, including multiple senior ranks, sustained injuries, and approximately 70 demonstrators were arrested during the event.
Protesters and Police Clash Over Alleged Actions
The police claimed that protesters exhibited “rowdy, confrontational, and aggressive conduct,” attacking security personnel, damaging government vehicles, and destroying public property. In contrast, the party accused law enforcement of using disproportionate force, leading to confusion about Dahiya’s presence or absence at the scene. When the video went viral, some questioned why Dahiya was not among the demonstrators, who were reportedly lathicharged during the confrontation.
Dahiya’s Explanation and Defense
Dahiya later released a video to address the situation, stating he had participated in the protest before realizing it had concluded. He explained that he left the demonstration to return home and shower, as he was exhausted from two nights of continuous activism. “There’s nothing wrong with eating a burger if you’re hungry,” he argued, but later clarified he hadn’t consumed it because it contained refined flour and trans fats.
“I’ve been working tirelessly for one and a half months on this cause. I’ve been involved in protests and haven’t slept for over two nights. Those at the protest know the truth,” he said. “The march started, so I joined it. The police had shut down the entire internet here. Later, I thought since the march was over, I’d go home, take a shower, and come back.”
Dahiya, a graduate of Delhi Technological University (DTU), has previously worked as a content developer for several YouTube creators, including Dhruv Rathee. His clarification attempts to reconcile his absence with the protest’s intensity, while emphasizing the physical and mental toll of sustained advocacy.
