Bengal CM Attack Plot: Jantar Mantar Protest Was Secondary Target
Probe Reveals Shocking Details of Assassination Conspiracy
Indiadailyupdate.com – The Bengal CM attack plot investigation has uncovered remarkable new dimensions in the conspiracy against West Bengal’s Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. A thorough probe by the Special Task Force of Kolkata Police has revealed that the attempted attack involved an elaborate network of two suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad operatives. The operation was designed with multiple objectives, targeting not only the state’s top political leader but also student demonstrations at Delhi’s historic Jantar Mantar site.
Hamim Mondal and Arpita Sarkar were apprehended by law enforcement agencies, bringing to light a sophisticated strategy that extended beyond a simple assassination attempt. Inspector General of Police Gaurav Sharma, who leads the STF investigation, provided detailed insights during a press conference. “Serious revelations have come forward regarding the Bengal CM attack plot,” Sharma stated. “Our Honourable Chief Minister was the primary target. His daily movements were carefully studied to identify unguarded moments.”
How Extortion Complaints Uncovered Terrorist Network
The entire conspiracy came to light following complaints filed by Howrah minister Umesh Rai. Rai reported that his son had been receiving threats related to extortion and abduction allegations. Police agencies successfully traced these intimidation tactics back to Arpita Sarkar, who was operating from Sahibganj district in Jharkhand. Meanwhile, Mondal had relocated from his parents’ residence in Howrah to Burdwan, where authorities eventually apprehended him. His father reportedly earned his livelihood working at a garment manufacturing facility in Pilkhana, Howrah.
“We launched an enquiry and after verifying them, a Sahibganj handle was found to be involved with suspicious activity,” the IG STF remarked. The connection between Mondal and Sarkar became evident through detailed interrogations, which revealed the pair maintained communication for approximately three to four years across multiple digital platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, and X.
Pakistani Handlers and ISI Connections Exposed
Investigators discovered that Sarkar maintained direct contact with Pakistani handlers associated with the Shehzad Bhatti criminal network. Sources indicate she possessed full awareness of her operational role within the conspiracy. Both individuals received their directives through various social media channels, with handlers attempting to expand their influence through Mondal’s local connections. Mondal, who dropped out during his second year of college, and Sarkar, a university graduate, were contacted by Pakistani handlers backed by the ISI through numerous WhatsApp numbers encompassing both Indian and international contacts.
“The Shehzad Bhatti gang is known to have close contacts with ISI,” Sharma highlighted, while also noting ongoing efforts to brainwash and radicalize the operatives. Authorities are currently examining Mondal’s financial records to determine if he received compensation for carrying out assigned missions. Electronic gadgets and documentary evidence have been confiscated from both suspects for verification purposes.
Political Fallout and Protest Resolution
Sarkar was initially presented before a Burdwan court after being transported from Jharkhand, with plans to transfer her to Kolkata for extended questioning. Several additional individuals remain under surveillance as investigators continue their work before announcing further arrests. The timing of these revelations coincides with developments in Delhi, where the Jantar Mantar student demonstrations were suspended last week.
The Cockroach Janata Party and the Central government reached an agreement regarding unfulfilled demands. This resolution occurred alongside the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who faced mounting pressure. In his official departure letter, Pradhan stated he was stepping aside to ensure “anti-nationals” could not capitalize on the ongoing disturbances. The Bengal CM attack plot investigation continues to reveal new connections as authorities work to prevent any potential threats to public safety.
