CJP Lashes Out at Centre Over Protester Release Delays

In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, the satirical political organization warned that fresh protests would be unavoidable unless all First Information Reports against student demonstrators are withdrawn. The party’s spokesperson, Ashutosh Ranka, addressed Union ministers J.P. Nadda and Dr Jitendra Singh directly, highlighting what he described as a breach of trust between the government and the protesting students.
“Hundreds of students have been arrested in Bihar and Bengal, and hundreds are being surveilled/harrassed in Delhi and other states. Multiple reports are emerging in Delhi around detention of volunteers supporting protestors with logistics,” Ranka emphasized in his communication.
Legal Evidence Platform ‘Saakshi’ Unveiled
Alongside the political warning, CJP has launched a comprehensive digital initiative called ‘Saakshi’ to preserve crucial evidence from the ongoing demonstrations. This mobile application and web platform will capture authentic photographs and video recordings that may prove essential in future legal battles. The project has received support from distinguished attorney Kapil Sibal, who serves as an independent Rajya Sabha member and has been advising the party on legal matters. Saurav Das, another CJP spokesperson, is also involved in coordinating this evidence preservation effort.
This announcement comes at a critical juncture, as CJP lashes out at Centre for what it perceives as incomplete implementation of the agreement reached earlier this week. The settlement had promised comprehensive relief to protesters, including the cancellation of all legal cases filed against participants and volunteers involved in the demonstrations.
Key Provisions of the Protest Settlement
The agreement reached between the satirical party and the government encompassed multiple dimensions of relief. Financial compensation was promised to families affected by the tragic suicides following the NEET examination paper leak. The government also committed to accepting responsibility for the lathi charges and tear gas deployment used during the protests. Additionally, a five-point framework was established to guide modifications to upcoming examination processes.
Further measures have been initiated by authorities to address the concerns raised during the demonstrations. Expedited courts have been set up to handle cases related to the NEET paper leak incident. A specialized task force, operating under the guidance of Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani and various subject specialists, is working to strengthen the examination system administered by the National Testing Authority.
Meanwhile, Union Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi has taken on additional responsibilities for the ministry previously headed by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This ministry already oversees Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy sectors.

While the central government has not yet issued a formal response to the CJP’s latest warning, a PTI report from Sunday revealed that further actions against detained individuals would continue pending necessary approvals. The report confirmed that fifteen FIRs have been registered across various New Delhi police stations concerning the July 20 disturbances and related protest activities.
The Delhi Police investigation into the alleged conspiracy behind the violent episodes has identified over 2,500 individuals with criminal backgrounds and poor character references. These identifications are based on extensive analysis of CCTV footage, digital records, mobile communications, and witness statements that remain under review by law enforcement authorities.
As the situation develops, CJP continues to monitor the government’s actions closely. The party’s leadership has made it clear that they will not hesitate to escalate their campaign if the promised releases do not materialize promptly.
