The email also mentioned specific political figures, prompting security agencies to express concerns over the threat’s authenticity. In response, both state police forces and central intelligence units have reviewed and reinforced their security measures.
Key infrastructure such as transportation centers and administrative buildings has seen increased patrols and monitoring. Local law enforcement has been instructed to maintain constant readiness, with additional personnel deployed to high-risk areas. Recent Standoff with Nihang Sikhs Adds Context
Security agencies have not dismissed any scenario, including the possibility of targeted attacks. This comes after a standoff involving Nihang Sikhs and local authorities at the Nagrasu gurdwara in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. The group had been seeking the release of four members arrested following a clash in Karnaprayag market on June 16.
The conflict lasted three days before resolving on June 23, following the involvement of a Sikh delegation. However, tensions reignited on June 25 when a contingent of Nihang Sikhs crossed into Uttarakhand via the Kulhal border in Dehradun district, demanding the same four men’s release. Officials successfully convinced the group to return to Paonta Sahib. The arrested individuals were eventually granted bail by a district and sessions court in Uttarakhand on Saturday.
