Three people tragically lost their lives when a tempo truck carrying agricultural workers struck a live high-tension overhead cable in Gandevi, located in the Navsari district. This devastating incident occurred during morning hours as the vehicle was traveling from Gandeva village toward a nearby agricultural field. The combination of heavy rain and reduced visibility created hazardous driving conditions that contributed to the fatal collision.
“Poor visibility caused by relentless downpours likely contributed to the accident while the tempo was travelling from Gandeva village to a nearby farm,” Gandevi police inspector N. I. Rathod told The Indian Express.
In a separate tragedy, an 11-year-old girl perished after being swept away by canal waters in Borsad taluka of Anand district on Friday. Maharashtra’s Nandurbar district and Assam’s Cachar, Jorhat, and Lakhimpur districts remain under orange warnings, indicating the potential for isolated but intense downpours.
