Ketan Vishal Agarwal Murdered by Fiancée: Father Questions Her Motive
Indiadailyupdate.com –
If she didn’t want to marry him, she could have said no—Ketan Vishal Agarwal, a 26-year-old Pune-based businessman, was allegedly murdered by his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her partner, Chetan Chaudhary, during a trek at Lohagad Fort. The incident, initially thought to be an accident, has now been reclassified as a premeditated act after police uncovered evidence pointing to foul play. Ketan’s father, speaking to media, expressed anguish over the sudden turn of events, questioning how the fiancée could have taken such drastic action.
Accused Arrested, Remanded in Custody
Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, have been arrested and remanded in police custody. The court ordered their detention until June 29, as authorities continue to probe the motive behind the alleged murder. The couple had planned to tie the knot in November, following their February engagement, with their families set to celebrate the union in a Rajasthan palace valued at Rs 17 crore. Plans included arranging two private aircraft for wedding guests, underscoring the high expectations of the family.
“If she didn’t want to marry him, she could have refused and we would have cancelled everything immediately. Why take such a drastic step? What kind of mindset leads someone to kill a 26-year-old man?”
Ketan’s father, who addressed the media after the arrest, emphasized the shock and disbelief his family felt. He stated that Siya had no reason to act so violently, given the impending marriage. “Society needs to reflect on such cruelty. Where does this mentality come from—family, upbringing, or something else?” he added, lauding the police for their swift action and urging the judicial system to prioritize the case quickly.
Parents Feel Betrayed by Fiancée
Ketan’s mother voiced her grief, recounting how she had trusted Siya and spent time with her before the engagement. “She betrayed me and lied. There was nothing suspicious; we didn’t have a single doubt. I met her many times, and we went shopping and out for dinner together frequently, yet it never crossed our minds that she could be this kind of person,” she said, confirming the family’s demand for the death penalty. The couple’s relationship, once seen as a promising union, now stands as a symbol of betrayal and tragedy.
“She (Siya) betrayed me and lied. There was nothing suspicious; we didn’t have a single doubt. I met her many times, and we went shopping and out for dinner together frequently, yet it never crossed our minds that she could be this kind of person.”
According to police records, the fatal incident occurred on June 18 when Ketan and Siya went trekking at Lohagad Fort to mark her birthday. Initially, Siya told investigators that Ketan had slipped while taking photos, and a rescue team recovered his body after a three-hour operation. However, further evidence revealed a deliberate plan to push him into the gorge. The case was first registered as an accidental death, but the investigation uncovered a motive rooted in the couple’s relationship strain.
Investigation Points to Relationship Strain
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill revealed that the inquiry focused on financial disagreements and personal ties. “Our teams examined multiple angles, including financial disputes and personal relationships. We found that Siya was in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary, who lives in Kondhwa,” he explained. The police allege that Siya viewed Ketan as an obstacle to her relationship with Chaudhary, leading to the tragic decision to end his life.
The case has sparked public debate about the pressures of arranged marriages and the role of personal relationships in such decisions. Siya and Chaudhary are now facing charges of murder, with the prosecution arguing that their actions were premeditated. Ketan’s father has called for stricter laws to protect individuals in similar situations, emphasizing the need for society to question the mindset that leads to such violence. As the trial progresses, the community watches closely, hoping for justice and closure in this heartbreaking incident.
