Chetan’s father, Babulal Chowdhury, stated that the family had never met Siya and were only informed of her name after the case gained media attention. He emphasized that his son had told them he was not near Ketan when the incident occurred. "Chetan was not involved in the matter and clearly informed us he stood some distance away when Ketan fell," Babulal said, per ANI reports.
"We have never seen the girl in question and know nothing about her. I only learned her name, Siya, yesterday, and had no prior contact with her," he added.
Uncle’s Defense: Media Misleading, No Evidence of Chetan’s Guilt
Chetan’s uncle, Udayram Chowdhury, echoed similar claims, describing his nephew as a reputable sportsman with no prior conflicts. "Chetan is completely innocent, and the media is painting a one-sided story, especially on Instagram," Udayram said. He noted that the family was unaware of any romantic ties between Chetan and Siya. "Our members knew nothing about their relationship until now," he asserted.
"He told us while crying that he was being falsely accused. There has never been a single complaint against him in the market," Udayram recounted.
