Heavy Rains to Hit Maharashtra’s Ten Districts

According to Marathi news outlets reporting on Thursday afternoon, six districts within the Vidarbha region will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall within the next day.
Authorities have elevated warnings for several areas. A red alert covers Yavatmal and Amravati districts, while Washim, Akola, Wardha, and Chandrapur remain under orange alert conditions. Residents in Vidarbha may anticipate relief from the downpours only when Saturday, August 1 arrives.
Meanwhile, Jalgaon district faces similar threats. TV9 Marathi reported that the region expects heavy to very heavy rainfall alongside thunderstorms and powerful winds throughout the next twenty-four hours.
Along the western coast, the Konkan region has received attention. Ratnagiri district carries a yellow alert, with coastal winds currently registering between 40 and 45 kilometers per hour.
Telangana Sees Rainfall Recovery
Neighboring Telangana has experienced widespread precipitation following an extended dry spell, according to news agency PTI. Data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society indicates significant accumulation in recent days.
By midday on Thursday, Gullakota in Jagtial district recorded 70.5 millimeters of rain. Sirpur (U) within Kumram Bheem Asifabad district followed closely with 66.6 millimeters.
The state’s rainfall deficit has improved considerably. The India Meteorological Department noted that the shortfall, which measured 33 percent fifteen days prior, contracted to just 10 percent by Thursday morning.
The IMD has also issued a red alert for isolated locations across five Telangana districts: Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Jagtial. These areas anticipate very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall coupled with strong surface winds beginning at 1 pm on Thursday through 8:30 am on July 31.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Telangana during the same period.
