Chikkaballapura District Sees Nationality Misrepresentation Case
Indiadailyupdate.com – Karnataka’s Chikkaballapura district police recently uncovered a case involving false nationality claims, leading to the arrest of a couple who allegedly obtained a ration card and voter identity document using misleading information. The two individuals, identified as Farah Naz and her son Mohammed Fardeen, were detained following an inquiry that revealed their nationality was concealed during the application process.
According to the police, the accused were Farah Naz, a Pakistani national, and Mohammed Fardeen, born in Pakistan. Their husband, Mohammed Ayub Khan, a resident of Bagepalli, is reportedly an Indian citizen. The family, which includes three other children, currently resides in Bagepalli. Khan was working in the United Arab Emirates at the time.
“Both accused have been arrested, and further investigation is in progress,” said the Chikkaballapura Superintendent of Police, Kushal Chouksey, as reported by PTI.
The police investigation found that the couple had withheld critical details about their origins, enabling them to secure the documents. The Deputy Commissioner of Bagepalli verified the records and revoked the ration card, stating it was obtained through the suppression of key nationality facts. The voter identity card was also canceled by the relevant authority.
A criminal case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Foreigners Act, and the Representation of the People Act after a complaint was filed by the Tahsildar of Bagepalli. The case highlights discrepancies in documentation processes and the importance of verifying identities rigorously.
