Telangana Man Out on Bail in POCSO Case Linked to Tragic Murder of Wife, Sons, and Teen Girl

The Telangana man had initially been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly harassing the 16-year-old girl. His release on anticipatory bail, granted after the police submitted a report detailing his alleged conduct, has raised concerns about the justice system’s approach to serious crimes. The POCSO Act, designed to protect children from sexual abuse and ensure swift legal action, was invoked in this case due to the suspect’s repeated stalking of the girl. The accused is reported to have driven six kilometers from his village to the girl’s residence at approximately 10:45 pm, following a series of confrontations that began weeks prior. According to the police, he had been in contact with the girl’s mother, Chityala Lakshmi, multiple times, often insisting that the family take him to a secluded spot for “counselling.” This led to the girl’s grandmother, Chityala Rukkamma, being attacked first. The suspect’s methodical approach to the killings suggests a premeditated plan, with victims selected based on their proximity to the girl and their connection to the family.
“We called him two or three times for counselling. His family members have stated that his mental condition was not stable. He also had a gambling habit and had accumulated loans earlier,” said senior police officer Tarun Joshi. The officer emphasized that the suspect’s history of stalking and verbal abuse toward the girl had been documented, yet his release on bail allowed him to return to the family home, where the tragedy occurred.
Sequence of Violence and Public Reaction
Following the initial assault on the girl’s grandmother, the suspect reportedly targeted the girl’s mother, who was the first to open the door. After a brief struggle, he killed her, then moved to attack the 65-year-old grandmother, who was asleep at the time. The man then took the teen girl to a nearby lake, where he stabbed her to death and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The police have since confirmed that the suspect also killed his wife and two sons, though the exact order of events is still under investigation.
The victims’ families have expressed shock at the suspect’s actions, with some stating that there were no major disputes or conflicts before the incident. Parvathi Saritha, the wife of the slain victims, was reportedly in good spirits the previous evening, unaware of the impending tragedy. After the killings, the suspect called his father to confess to the crime, claiming he had murdered six people before deciding to take his own life.
