Currently, India holds the rotating chairmanship of the multilateral organization.

His previous visit occurred seven years ago during an informal meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mamallapuram, located in Tamil Nadu province, back in 2019. Shortly following that encounter, a violent confrontation between soldiers from both nations in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh triggered an extended military standoff.
Through numerous rounds of diplomatic negotiations and military discussions, both countries successfully pulled back their forces from multiple tension zones along the eastern Ladakh section of the LAC. By October 2024, representatives from China and India reached an agreement concerning disengagement at Depsang and Demchok, which remained the final two contested areas in eastern Ladakh.
Leadership Engagement and BRICS Expansion
