West Bengal Horror: Three Arrested in 12-Year-Old Girl’s Rape and Murder

Indiadailyupdate.com – Following the tragic rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl in Baruipur, West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari visited the police station to evaluate the situation. Three individuals have been detained, with Ananda Sardar identified as the primary suspect. During his meeting with police officials, Adhikari emphasized the importance of strict adherence to legal frameworks, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), high court directives, and guidelines from women’s and children’s rights commissions. He also highlighted the need for compliance with POSCO laws.

Rape and Murder Case

“I connected with police across the state and stressed that such crimes must be addressed swiftly. We will ensure all procedural safeguards are followed,” said Adhikari after the session.

Adhikari also met with the victim’s family, pledging support. “This is the first time a CM and Police Minister have engaged so closely with the families of victims,” he remarked. Political figures from the BJP and TMC were present, with leaders like Rupa Ganguly and Saayoni Ghosh expressing satisfaction with the actions taken. The police shared CCTV footage showing the girl walking with one of the accused before the attack. It is alleged that the perpetrators pooled ₹10,000 to lure her to a secluded area. Alcohol consumption by the trio prior to the assault has also been noted.

Football Clash Incident

Meanwhile, another violent event unfolded in Baruipur, where a 17-year-old boy named Prosenjit Biswas was killed in a confrontation linked to a local football match. Five suspects were arrested, accused of participating in the attack. Biswas was allegedly stabbed by three youths during a heated clash. His team had won the match three days prior, which reportedly sparked rivalry between two factions. The incident escalated on Monday when a mob, including family members and friends, stormed a hospital and vandalized a police camp.

“My brother returned from the game with injuries, and then they took his life,” said his sister.

Protesters blocked roads outside the hospital, demanding the immediate prosecution of those involved. Police used baton charges to disperse the crowd, while heavy security was deployed to manage the unrest. Adhikari confirmed that a murder case will be filed and that the culprits will face legal consequences.

Political Involvement and Public Reaction

BJP leaders Agnimitra Paul and Locket Chatterjee, along with rebel group members Ritabrata Banerjee and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, visited the family to express solidarity. The victim’s mother vowed for justice, stating, “I want them to suffer the same fate as my daughter.”

A six-member Special Investigation Team is probing the case for any lapses in police response. Siddh Nath Gupta, the West Bengal Police’s DGP and IGP, confirmed that a thorough inquiry will examine all aspects of the incident.
